Essence of Tropical

Nothing says tropical more than the palm tree.

For me they typify and are an essential element of any island abode.

Any time of day they simply look stunning and evoke paradise like nothing else.

Isn't this stunning!

Viceroy Anguilla

I was intrigued to see just what Kelly Wearstler would do to a tropical island hotel decor. Pleasantly surprised she's captured the raw elements of coastal island decorating and added her own spin on them. Result, the Viceroy Anguilla.

Ocean Club

For those of you who thought Tommy Bahama was all about those questionable 'Magnam' inspired Hawaiian tourist shirts, you maybe quite pleasantly surprised.

The brand has shifted significantly in style direction to a Ralph Lauren inspired island style aesthetic - fantastic.

Below is a personal favourite of mine, their new furniture collection - Ocean Club (love that name), beautifully designed and perfect for any resort style abode.

Gorgeous

This is a beautiful TV cabinet

You have a check out their fabrics too. I have my eye
on some lovely designs for feature pieces

Co Yo

I just have to try this, Co Yo the first coconut milk ice-cream & yoghurt's in Australia, made on the beautiful Sunshine Coast of Queensland.

The Co Yo story began many years ago when a boy growing up in Fiji, had the job to grate and squeeze the flesh of the coconut to extract the milk which was used in family meals.

Thankfully western society is finally beginning to understand the secrets of the coconut that the traditional consumers have known for centuries; its powerful health giving qualities are legendary.

His love of this smooth white creamy milk continues as he works to bring you these delicious products, and so, it is with gratitude that we all thank the “Tree of Life” for its wonderful gift to us all.

Just yummy

Happy Mothers Day

To all the wonderful Mum's out there,
Happy Mothers Day.

I was very delighted to receive the most gorgeous handmade items this morning. Holly has been very busy and very creative (just like mum). Then went on to ask, is there a Happy Kids Day?

Have a lovely day all.

Create Your Own Paradise - Coastal Wine Charms

How cute are these and so easy to make. I'm sure we all have some of those old wine charms in the cupboard, if not you can get them from most places.

Remove old charm and replace with some pearl beads and pre-drilled small shells (all available from craft stores).

Et voila, a gorgeous coastal way to keep tabs on your bubbles.

Cheers!

Surf Tumbled Findings

There's something romantic about discovering shards of the past found surf tumbled from the ocean. Old pottery, glass, shells etc. The sense of journey, the curiosity of their origins that now become someone else's treasure, but what to do with such items except store or display?

Upcycling is the magic of combining creativity and things from the past that would otherwise be left discarded and forgotten.

Breathing new life into an old object so that it tells the next story is so rewarding and so it's easy to see how the hand craft boom came to flourish. Part knee jerk reaction to mass production (a la William Morris), part eco consciousness and part thrift.

So how delighted was I to find this simple idea using gifts from the sea and an all time favourite of mine, the humble button.
